Whitie’s Pets 2nd Annual
Pooch Parade
& Canine Costume Contest

It’s a Halloween event just for dog-lovers! The Tower District is hosting the second annual Whitie’s Pets Pooch Parade & Canine Costume Contest on the Saturday before Halloween. This doggie to-do will take place behind the Tower Theatre on the corner of Wishon and Olive avenues in the Tower District on Saturday, October 25 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

 

The Whitie’s Pets Pooch Parade & Canine Costume Contest will feature over a dozen dog product and service vendors offering quality dog food and treats, dog tags, dog collars, dog clothing, dog photos, dog adoptions, dog micro chipping, dog training, doggie-doo clean up, dog sitting, dog boarding, dog health care, and even dog fragrances! Dog sitting and the Beer & Bone Garden will also be available for attendees to enjoy. Dog demonstrations by Paws for Fun, Service Dogs for Self-Reliance, the Canine Agility Team of Fresno, and the Fresno Police Department K-9 Unit are scheduled between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. Then, at 3:30, the Pooch Parade will take place along Olive Avenue, ending back at the festival site for final judging of the Canine Costume Contest. Contest judges include local television station personalities and elected officials.

      Prize categories include:

      1) Best Dog Costume           2) Best Dog/Owner Costume Combo

      3) Cutest Dog                         4) Ugliest Dog (cutest in their own special way)

First place winners in all categories will be awarded a one-year supply of free dog food (20 lbs. per month for 12 months), compliments of Whitie’s Pets. Runners up in all categories will win gift certificate packages from the event vendors and Tower District Businesses.

 

The contest entry fee is only $10 with discounted entry fees for multiple dogs per family. Entry forms are available for download at http://www.towerdistrict.org/events.htm. The Whitie’s Pets Pooch Parade & Canine Costume Contest is sponsored by Whitie’s Pets, Nutro Pet Food, Innova Pet Food, Canidae Pet Food, and Bud Light. Proceeds benefit Tower District Projects and the Central California SPCA.
